Beware the Malevolent Popcorn Kernel!

The other night, Selah and I were watching a movie and I popped some popcorn (old school style) to go along with the atmosphere. I was munching away and enjoying the flick and snack when a little popcorn kernel snuck into my handful of popcorn. I heard a loud crunch but did not think much of it until later when I ran my tongue over my back teeth and notice my back molar was very jagged. Turns out that loud crunch I heard was the breaking of my tooth. I made a dentist appointment to get it fixed before it got worse even though it was not painful. What turned out to be painful was the bill I received for my new crown (NOT to be confused with the Kate Middleton tiara type of crown) especially since we don't have dental insurance. Question: Why is dental insurance separate from health insurance anyway? I guess I am going to look into purchasing dental insurance...

Never clipping baby fingernails again...

Selah is really bad about scratching her face, eyeballs, etc. with her very sharp baby fingernails. It is impossible to keep mittens on her since she is Houdini and can get out of anything (especially socks and mittens). So, last night I decided to cut her fingernails that grow at ridiculously rapid rates and ... I cut my poor baby's finger. She did that aweful gasp and then cry (like she does when she gets a vaccine) and I felt like the worst mom in the world. Then her poor little finger was bleeding (just a little, but still). I was so distraught and Craig was trying to tell me that it was ok and stuff but hello! I just damaged my kid. Anyway, I really don't think I am going to be able to cut her nails again. Maybe one day she can be in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest fingernails ever and can credit her mother who cut her finger when she was 3 weeks old...

My baby girl is so photogenic!

Selah's infant pictures have finally been revealed! Mrs. Cindy at Babycakes Photography took the pictures and they are so great. If you are looking for a great local photographer with reasonable prices, you should check her out. Anyway, I have included a few of my favorites for your viewing pleasure. She was 6 days old in these pictures!

Shots, milk snot, and a belly button stub, oh my!

Today I took Selah to the doctor for her 2 week appointment. She has gained quite a bit of weight! Last week at her appointment she weighed 6lb 5oz. Today she weighed a whopping 7lb 7oz! No wonder mommy is tired all of the time...my little piggy likes to eat! She also had to get her first immunization shot today. It took her breath away and was terrible for the both of us. I took one for the team as well and got a shot of my own, although I think mine was easier. After the appointment, I fed her, and then she sneezed and milk came out of both nostrils and her mouth. It was quite impressive! I also noticed her belly button was hanging by a thread. I was very disturbed and thought I might puke, but then it passed. Later, she lost her belly button completely. What a day...
